St. Annen-Straße 20 - Frieda Bär
At the start of 1935 Semmy and Frieda Bär moved from Königstraße to a flat on the first floor of Annen-Straße 20. .
Selig Semmy Bär was born in Lübeck on 14 January 1891. He was the son of Caroline Bär nee Cohn. Semmy was a salesman and also supervised and ran a paper wholesale concern. His wife, Frieda nee Kronenberg, hailed from Giershagen in Westfalen. She was born on 24 August 1891.
Somehow the married couple had avoided the December 1941 deportation to Riga, only to be forced from their flat in the beginning of April 1942 moving to St.-Annen-Straße 11 into the Jewish Seniors’ Home. Semmy Bär died there on 14 April 1942 at 11 p.m. at the age of 57. Doctor Tock, the doctor who signed the death certificate, gave “week heart and stroke” as the cause of death.
Frieda Bär was deported to Theresienstadt (present day Terezin, Czech Republic) on 19 July 1942. Transport VI/2 for Theresinestadt left Hamburg on 20 July 1942. Six months later on 29 January 1943 Transport Ct brought Frieda Bär to Auschwitz and to her death.
