Elsa Strauss, née Stern, and her son Walter lived at Adolfstraße 5a
One of the stumbling blocks commemorates Elsa Strauss, née Stern, born 1880. After being deported to Riga in 1941 she lost her life at the concentration camp. The second block has been laid for her only son Walter Strauss, b. 1911. In 1942 he tried to escape to Palestine, but he was killed when the ship "STRUMA" sank when trying to cross the Black Sea from Turkey.
